NBEMS eDoctorLogbook

Digital logbook requirement for DNB, DrNB, and FNB trainees under the National Board of Examinations.
Overview
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) launched the eDoctorLogbook as a mandatory digital logbook for all DNB, DrNB, and FNB trainees. This is a separate system from NMC’s e-logbook requirements and applies specifically to NBEMS-accredited training programmes.
Key Requirements
- All DNB/DrNB/FNB trainees must maintain their logbook on the eDoctorLogbook platform
- Regular entries documenting clinical procedures, case discussions, and training activities
- Supervisor verification of logged activities
- Logbook completion is a prerequisite for appearing in final examinations
Implications for Medical Colleges
Institutions running NBEMS-accredited programmes must ensure trainee compliance with eDoctorLogbook. This is a mandated platform — institutions cannot substitute their own systems for NBEMS logbook requirements.
How ePortfolios Help
While eDoctorLogbook handles the NBEMS-mandated logbook requirement, ePortfolios complement it by providing deeper competency tracking, reflective practice, EPA assessment, and mentor feedback that the logbook platform does not cover. Institutions can use both systems — eDoctorLogbook for NBEMS compliance and ePortfolios for comprehensive CBME implementation.
